Banja Luka is not so large a city that visitors can easily get lost, but it’s helpful to have a map to find your way around. As a town where Eastern Europe meets the West, Banja Luka makes use of two alphabets: ћирилица (Cyrillic) and latinica (Latin). Most maps are printed in the Latinic alphabet.

The local language, both spoken and written, is Serbian. While similar to Bosnian and Croatian, it is its own separate language. Beyond the tools found on this web site, dictionaries and “survival language” guides are available in local bookstores and online.

Keep up-to-date with what the weather is doing and with what's going on in and around Banja Luka.
