Museum of Contemporary Art

​Taking advantage of the striking architecture of the old railway station, the Museum of Contemporary Art offers exhibits from local artists as well as artists from around the world.  To visit the exhibitions of the museum is to get to know the young, bold and innovative side of Banja Luka.

 

In addition, the museum provides numerous exceptional, interactive activities for those who are eager to experience something new and unique. Admission is free.  One charming feature not to be missed by visitors are the men playing chess on oversized boards in the park just in front of the museum.

Museum of the Republic of Srpska

Conveniently located just one block from the city center, the Museum of the Republic of Srpska offers its patrons a comprehensive look at the history of the region.  From ancient archeological findings through a fine collection of artifacts from recent wars, the museum allows visitors the opportunity to do more than read about history, but to see and experience it.

 

Those interested in military history will be fascinated by detailed descriptions of conflict and will want to allow plenty of time to observe the numerous weapons and other military artifacts on display.

National Theatre

​Along with many of the government buildings downtown, the National Theatre was built in the early 1930s. These new buildings helped establish Banja Luka not only as an important location in the eyes of the government but also as a regional center for performing arts.  Since its early days, the theatre welcomes directors, actors, singers, set designers and composers from all over the world to display their talents in Banja Luka. 

 

It is also a delight to the people in Banja Luka when local writers, artists and singers are able to perform here.  For theatre lovers locally and around the world, the “Teatar Fest” each May is a must-attend event.

Children's Theatre

The Children’s Theatre has been delighting children of all ages for more than 50 years.  It has received numerous awards from countries all over Europe for the performances it has hosted or originated.  It currently boasts that its performances have been seen by over 3 million visitors!  Its convenient location next door to the National Library downtown makes it a necessary, pleasurable diversion for visitors and locals alike.

Banski Dvor Cultural Center and City Hall

Banski Dvor is housed in one of a pair of immaculate buildings in downtown Banja Luka.  These buildings were built in 1932 to house many governmental and judicial  proceedings as well as the local rulers themselves. 

 

Today the opulent Banski Dvor is used for lectures, debates, concerts, book readings, and other exhibitions.  It is also host of the state television station.  The second of the pair of these beautiful buildings houses the City Hall.

French Cultural Center

​The French Cultural Centre enthusiastically promotes French culture by organizing educational and interactive activities.  Adults and children of all ages will savor the experience of France through movie nights, cooking classes, art exhibitions, concerts, language lessons and much more.  Members of the club also enjoy the benefit of borrowing books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and newspapers. 

 

French language classes are led by a team of professional and dynamic professors. All language levels are available for children and adults, as well as specialized courses.

 

Every March, the French Cultural Center organizes and hosts a two week Francophone event with numerous exciting activities that help bring a taste of France to Banja Luka.

Multiplex Palace

Glass Pavilion

Enjoy culture at its finest through live music, dance and other exhibitions in a setting both casual and intimate right in the middle of Banja Luka.  In partnership with Banski Dvor and Kastel, the Glass Pavilion in Petar Kočić Park offers many types of entertainment for the enjoyment of everyone in the park.  Take in this unique experience by finding a seat in the small amphitheater immediately facing the building, in the cafe below or by simply strolling through the generous walkways through the Park. 

Dvorana Borik

​Dvorana Borik is a modern, well-equipped arena that hosts a number of activities and is available for both professional and recreational venues.  Facilities are ideal for all types of sports, including handball, basketball, football, boxing and other martial arts exhibitions.  The arena offers a large space suitable for cultural events, fairs, large meetings and other events.

 

Finally, the arena is able to offer organized classes for everything from table tennis to handball and basketball, from martial arts to modern dance.  Dvorana Borik is truly able to offer something for everyone.
